What are we willing to pay for and what do we want for free? When I started substack I insisted that you, whomever was willing to listen to me and read my newsletters (thanks Mom), did not need to pay for style advice and suggestions. I strongly believe that ideas are meant to be shared and that if I enjoy something I purchased you should know where I got it. If I can style something in a way you never thought of, why wouldn’t I share it?
The reality is that while my thoughts on being helpful haven’t changed, I also make my living helping brands in similar ways and frankly these newsletters take time. I try really hard to be honest, respond to followers and always be thoughtful about what I share and suggest. Styling tricks that come naturally for me are not always the case for everyone else and I still want to help you figure it out. The process of sharing my ideas and tricks have to be filmed, edited and researched. Finding the time to do anything outside of working my day job, being a mom and having some time to be lazy and drink a bottle of wine while I procrastinate is really hard.
So why do it? Well, I really like it. I enjoy sharing what I know and what I learn along my way. This platform has allowed me to meet new people and discover new artists who in turn have trusted me with their designs. The community I have built here has always been so supportive of my most insane ideas to my most personal thoughts and I am so grateful.
But it also occurred to me that all the time I am spending on this might be worth something to you too. So, I am going to start charging for my Laundry Day. $5 a month will get you 2 posts every month that offer outfit ideas, brand highlights, styling hacks or maybe something I haven’t thought of yet. Free posts will continue occasionally but smaller and with less suggestions. Full transparency, substack’s lowest monthly subscription is $5, I honestly tried for less but it was not possible. That $5 breaks down like this: 10% goes to substack, 2.9% goes to credit card processing fees and $0.30 for what I don’t know. I work in fashion so I can’t do the math, but I am smart enough to know it is less than $5 in my pocket. You can cancel anytime and as always I welcome you feedback.
I am far from a perfect substacker but I promise to be honest, maybe clever and a little bit witty, totally weird and hopefully helpful in how to view your own closet, maybe pass off some deals, help sifting through that mass retailer or helping you discover your next favorite small brand.
If you are still on the fence maybe these FAQ’s can help:
Where are you located? Currently on my couch, sometimes in my bed, always in my head.
Do you have outside investors? Not at this time, but my children offer quick and reliable judgement that feels similar to appearing on Shark Tank.
Do you offer customer service? Yes, Nancy is standing by. She is available the 6th Tuesday of every month.
Do you offer any other services? I do everything but personal grooming.
How do I know that all these items will be amazing? They will be amazing because I said so. If you are completely unsatisfied with my suggestions and wish for a refund just send me your routing number, bank account, last 4 of your digits of your social, all your passwords and your Mother’s maiden name and I will happily set up a refund.
Can I make fashion requests? Yes, but if your requests include advice on Crocs styled day to night, head-to-toe madras looks or how to bring back the thigh-high Ugg, you will be immediately asked to leave the platform and be billed for my time.

Do you believe in soulmates? You’re candid, graceful, chic, clever, witty and also pretty. While I was reading the last Laundry Day, I thought to myself she should for sure be charging for this. You’ve got my $5! Keep doing it all. You are kicking ass.
Go for it!
