It’s Laundry Day, let’s go to Hawaii.
The Aloha State, a special place to me. Many moons ago, my grandmother spent many years of her young life on these magical islands. She grew into a beautiful woman there. Its culture and traditions shaping her who she was. Until one amazing man took her to Wisconsin to be her bride and she spent her married life in the cheese state barfoot and in mumus— because Hawaii was always a part of her. I love Hawaii. I also legit love these two sisters who are way cooler than me, Oleema and Kalani Miller, who started a swim line called MIKOH. I have already resigned myself to the fact that I will never be as cool as these two. They are both gorgeous, fit and effortless on a surf board, but I will continue to stuff myself into their cool swim and clothing any day and at least try to hang. I am sincerely a huge fan of this brand, legit paying customer. I will likely force them both to be my friend...
So, here is a little snack for you to discover their line and fall in love as much as I have. Their swimsuits come in various cuts and colors, unbeknownst to me, they also offer some really cute clothing. Don’t sleep on their dresses, skirts and tops. Their simple approach without sacrificing quality is suitable for more than just the beach.
Hale Kealohalani Makua means love all you see, including yourself. Here is just some of what I saw, loved and loved on me from MIKOH. I told these ladies how much I loved their line and they kindly are offering 20% off for a limited time, so hurry up. Use code SARAH20
This one piece, called the Las Palmas is sexy and yet still a subtle one piece— so, fear not timid swimsuit wearers. I will mostly like use this as a bodysuit when not at the beach or pool. The deep V is flattering and the thin straps allow for a low key tan line. The back has a slight criss-cross and sexy opening which allows for you to adjust the tightness of the straps. It is a higher cut swim suit so embrace your butt. I wouldn’t call it a butt main character more like a butt supporting role. This suit comes in tons of colors and patterns. They also offer a great one piece square neckline suit with thicker straps. I am into it all.
Obsessed with this striped cover up or dress or whatever. You may already know that I have never met a stripe I didn’t like and here, I fell in love again. This maroon colored stripe is chic and goes well with navy, neutrals and black. The stripe comes in other variations like a crop top, cut out dress, shorts, jumpsuit, hat, button down and more. I could wear every single one of these pieces forever and be ok, yes that is how much I like a stripe.
Let’s stay on stripes, shall we? Funny thing, I have never been into a sarong. I see them on others but I sometimes feel silly. I went out on a limb and got this Ahe sarong because, well stripes, and imagined all the things I could do. On the head, waist, even tucked under a jacket. It comes in solid too and I am also really found of the color Koa open their site. I loved matching it to my matching striped suit Majorca. This suit is great, the green is a beautiful shade and it also comes in a bikini. I don’t know what else to say. I love a sexy one piece.
Back to swim. Here was my attempt to look as cool as the Miller sisters. I went out of my comfort zone and got the Queensland bikini top and Papara bottom. Knowing full well when I went shopping on their site that this strap may not be my jam, the two straps are supposed to cross over on the same shoulder, leaving on bare shoulder. Whatever, I was willing to try. Here is an honest confession and maybe confirms how actually uncool I am. I am realizing only right now, as I write this, that despite knowing how the top worked, I put it on wrong. Regardless, it was cute, and I had many women ask me where it was from so my mistake seems like a win— two bikini top styles in one!
I love a bike short. Yes, I do and yes I am over 25. Sorry, not sorry. I like it with a top, a blazer, a bikini or a sheer dress. This Balan jungle print short also comes in some great solid colors.
Finally, an excellent matching set, cute on its own and solo. The elastic waist on the Delia skirt allows for an extra serving of guac and chips along with pockets which are a must for me. The Opihi crop top would look great with a high waist pant or a short or a bikini bottom.
Aloha
