It’s Laundry Day and I want a deal.
I have been called a lot of things, some true, some I want to ignore but one thing I get often and I do know to be true is— I am a good shopper. I can find something everywhere, and I mean everywhere and anywhere. I believe that most stores and brands have at least one great item, probably more but at least one. So my rule is always look, don’t be a snob. Go in the stores you always walk by, it’s free with zero obligation. See everything, touch it all, try on that item you think you could never wear. If you leave with nothing at least you know what didn’t work and what you may want to look out for at the next store. If you leave with everything then lucky fucking you.
So here are a few things I’ve already purchased or have been adding to my cart that are $100 or under, none of these items are sponsored, just pure genuine “maybe I would buy that” love.
Bags In Progress: I love this brand and these simple over the shoulder bags that come in 7 colors. They are made of nylon so easy to clean, and offer compartments inside for easy access to your purell. They are great for travel and have an adjustable strap so you can play with length. $79
Nike: This classic retro shoe comes in 14 colors and I literally want all of them. I want to hike up some tube socks, wear them with short shorts and my New York winter legs. Or pair them with a frilly tulle skirt and pretend I am Cinderella and the sneaker fits. Or with an oversized men’s suit like I am love the child of Diane Keaton and Laureen Hutton. $76.97
Maria Stanley: If you know me you know I own a lot of berets. I wear them in winter and even on mornings in LA. These berets are made from alpaca and wool and available in a beautiful red, khaki, brown and navy. And for a little more you can own the matching cardigan because yes you are that cute. $64
Kule: The woman behind Kule has a special place in my heart. Not only is she a friend but I think she is a bad ass mom who has immense talent and a strong work ethic. She has always found success in this industry but on her own terms which is not always easy to do. With Kule she took the simple stripe seen a million ways over and from every brand out there and managed to reinvent it and create a fashion cult around her items. She has a great sense of humor and I geninuelly think her products are amazing. Striped Pouch $48 Winking Face Sock $28 O Boy Tee $68
Mejuri: I have to say I didn’t know much about this brand until Jenna Lyons became their international supermodel. After seeing their pieces in person I was really impressed with the quality and price. The jewelry is timeless and classic without breaking the bank and perfect for layering with your vintage or more pricey jewelry items. Mejuri Herringbone Bracelet $100 Mejuri Bracelet $70 Mejuri Necklace $95
Zara: I know not original but if you are willing to do the deep dive online you can find some pieces that can last longer than most fast fashion. The key— like with any brand is not to wear it head to toe. The Quilted Jacket $69.90 is cropped and neutral and would work well with most items. The Knit Vest $39.90 would be really cute tucked into with a high waisted pant or jean. Over a turtleneck, a classic button down or even under a jean jacket. The Zip Sweater $49.90 is the classic half zip summer sweater that works great over shorts or swim. Add a crisp button down or chambray underneath or buy oversized and pair with a girly skirt. The Poplin Top $49.90 would also look great in the winter with a turtleneck underneath or untied and styled as a layer under a jacket or blazer. The Houndstooth Blazer $89.90 is a no brainer with jeans or shorts with a tee or hoodie heading into spring and styled in fall again for a tonal look using colors found in the jacket.
Clare V: I love, love, love this belt. The graphic look and adjustable length make it easy to style over a jacket or blazer higher on the waist or with your favorite pants. $65
IXV Coffee: Another bad ass mom that I am lucky enough to call a friend. Jenny Cooper was one of magic designers behind Jcrew’s Crewcuts. I have worked and known this unique bird for years and her ideas and thinking have always amazed me. After leaving Jcrew, Jenny created a coffee shop in Brooklyn with the intention to create a store and community around less waste. She sells unique and handmade items outside of her delicious coffees.Upcycled Striped Shirt with Mask $89 No Waste Tee $48
UnionLA: The people behind this boutique are just cool and I love borrowing from the boys, in this case younger and way cooler boys. Lover Tee $55 Nylon Bucket Hat $48
Simonett: A fashion brand that started in Miami. Their items can sometimes skew a little young for me however I think they have some fun pieces that when paired with denim or a classic tee or button down could be very cool Tulle Top $49 Ruffle Shirt $72.80 Embossed Blouse $95 Pointed Collar Top $63.70
Frankie Shop: The go-to it-girl online boutique, no membership or blogger account needed. Striped Boatneck Blouse $88 Straight Jean $97 Balloon Sleeve Button Down $98 Fleece Sweatshirt $99
YOOX: The pages are endless and your eyes can go crosseyed and red after hours of searching—but if you are willing to put in the heavy lifting they have thousands of items at some great deals. If not, I can help you do it :) Off the shoulder top $100 Stripped Pants $100 Long Cotton Dress $100 Belted Jean $100 Zimmerman Floral Jacket $100 Solid and Striped Swim $100 Lace Dress $100 Wide Leg Jeans $100 Sequin Pants $100 Striped Skirt $100 Blue Dress $99 Striped Dress $99
General Store: This is one of my favorite stores to visit in L.A. Their home and vintage items are always simply and thoughtfully curated and I’m always a sucker for a sisal tote. I pretend I am that every Saturday farmers market shopper, with flowers perfectly hanging form the bag and my clean and well behaved kids in hand. I may have had like two of these Saturdays in my life, instead I stuff all the snacks I can for my dragons and head to the playground or beach as their water bottles leak to the bottom and their snacks crush into the material, only realizing at the end of the day but thankfully doing zero harm and I am good for next weekend.Lace Shopper Basket $75 Large Sisal Tote $68 Washed Silk Bandana $85
***Always note a store’s return policy before purchase. Hopefully you can try any item on in the comfort of your own home and if it wasn’t a fit you can lovingly send it back.
As always send me your laundry questions or comments or if purchased anything from above and need help putting it all together.
