Sleepy Time
Before you dose off here is a quick bite from one of my favorite pajama spots.
Hi lazy ladies. Ok here is the deal, I like PJ’s and as a lover of PJ’s I have long been a fan girl of Sleepy Jones, started by the undeniably cool Andy Spade. My first pair of Sleepy Jones PJ’s were the basic blue cotton set from their launch in 2013. I wore those suckers every night while pregnant with my son, despite my belly getting so big I couldn’t button them. I loved the ease and the feeling of living lazily in them yet feeling pulled together. I started collecting way more cotton pajamas than I needed and justified my obsession with the simple fact that I can and do roll out of bed and easily incorporate these cotton beauties them into my everyday wardrobe.
Why do I like PJ’s so much? Well, they are easy, flexible and have just enough stiff, just like my attitude. The cotton, whether in a solid, stripe or pattern can easily be styled under a more structured item, are flattering with a chunky item and help balance out a girly item. I took these Sleepy Jones Marina Set on a trip with my bestie Ashley Sargent Price and forced her to be my twin. We took them out of the bedroom and enjoyed cocktails and photo booths in them.
After a weekend of hitting the town hard and a must needed trip to the washing machine, I challenged my cotton pals to find life on their own. How can I really wear these striped numbers IRL and out of bed? Easy.
The Denim Healer. Denim, which as you know is always my friend and this cotton mens inspired PJ top does a great job breaking up these two staples. Tuck it in to give yourself a waist.
Life Of My Own Party. This PJ top does a great job of forcing the fancy or girly skirt to not take themselves too seriously. I love using the trick of not buttoning every button and overlapping the shirt ends and tucking them into my skirt. I love the blousy look the shirt gives when doing this. You can easily pair a bralette underneath that you aren’t afraid of showing off or in colder months adding a turtleneck under the PJ shirt.
Some Call It Work: The PJ bottom can play too. The easy cotton pants look great with a turtleneck and structured blazer. I went for a tonal vibe with a pop in color in the shoe. For colder months, cheat like I do and add leggings underneath.
Mama Time. Kids’s asleep, weekend solo? Add a chunky knit to this casual cotton pant, roll the hem and add a heel and you look just as good as the women who forget their pants at home.
That’s all for now, check out Sleepy Jones for more PJ ideas. As always, send your Dirty Laundry to sarahsdirtylaudnry@gmail.com
